"particle matters" by Lauren McBride, Frequent Contributor

particle matters:
CERN's Large Hadron Collider
speeds discovery

--Lauren McBride

Poet’s Notes: My love of science has a way of creeping into my poems, but usually biology, not physics. And yet, it was the LHC (pictured) that inspired this 5-7-5 haiku, and the potential for discovery that already includes the Higgs Boson commonly called the God Particle.

When each word counts, it helps to find words with a dual purpose like “matters” - here representing both topic and physical substance. In the last line, the word “speeds” was chosen to represent accelerated advances in research by accelerating particles.
